We implemented the NIFISA 3rd Seminar for 2 weeks from February 28th to March 13th. Young researchers, NOC’s secretariat, PE teachers, coaches and top athletes from 9 countries or regions participated. Lecturers who were conversant with Olympic education or sports management came from overseas and other universities and organizations in Japan. They presented their lectures in English. This seminar was designed to provide basic theory of Olympic Education, applied Sports Management, Budo and practical experiments of sports science that are conducted at NIFS. The students participated in excursions to experience cultural programs in cooperation with the Kanoya city government.

Comments from Participants:

  • ・The knowledge I have gained can be passed to our athletes and coaches. By doing this, it will help them understand the management side, it can help them narrow down their goals so that after their athletic life of career, they will still have a job in sports, so they will have life after sports.
  • ・Inspiring idea (from both the lectures and the discussion among the participants) knowledge of professional fields and knowledge of the conditions for other countries. Friends (with all the participants and the staff, along with lecturers and the homestay host family) connections are also made through friendships with the above mentioned that I will introduce the facilities for sport performance assessment to our sports science department.
