 The NIFS International Sport Academy (NIFISA) was initially launched in 2014. The Academy aims to promote research in sports management and sports performance science in addition to Olympic education. Through the Academy, all participants will contribute to the participants becoming globally-minded individuals who can work in professional sport fields in the future.
 The NIFISA 9th Seminar will be an 8 days program, composed of Sports Performance Course. The course provides a curriculum on Olympic Education, Sports Performance, Nutrition, Biomechanics, Sport Physiology and Training, Cultural Program and so on.
 We are planning to accept approximately 15 participants from several countries. We hope the program could create an opportunity to exchange new ideas of Olympic Movement and Performance Research from the world.

*Seminar dates:  28th,February~7th, March , 2019.

*Application period:  12th, ~30th, November , 2018

*Venue:  National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya (NIFS)
     (1-Shiromizu, Kanoya, Kagoshima 891-2393 JAPAN)

2.Seminar Opportunities

  • *Gain knowledge about Sports Performance and Olympic Movement.
  • *Communicate with Japanese instructors and students, and foreign lecturers.
  • *Exchange ideas with participants from several countries.
  • *Experience Japanese Culture and Martial Art (Kendo, Judo).
  • *Attend Homestay Program.

3.Candidate Criteria

  • (1) Hold a passionate interest in the Sports Performance and Olympic Movement, and be an imminent leader in sport professions in the near future (e.g. graduate student or any higher degree holder, young researcher, top coach, national level athlete, NOC officer, government official).
  • (2) Possess advanced level knowledge and skills of sport field.
  • (3) Possess English language proficiency with the score of TOEIC 650, TOEFL (iBT) 70, IELT 5.0 or international experience of one year or more in an English-speaking country.
  • (4) Aged between 22 ~ 39 years is preferred.
  • (5) The individuals who have never participated in ʻTIASʼ (Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies) Short Program or ʻNIFISAʼ (NIFS International Sport Academy) program.

4.Application Process and Guideline

Application must include the following:

  • (1)First Step-Application Documents Review
    • (a) Completed Resume Form (attached Resume Form) and attach your current photo.
    • (b) Completed Proposal Form (attached Proposal Form): Within 300 words (include reason(s) or motivations for interest in participating).
    • (c) A signed Letter of Recommendation from your country’s Regional or National Sport Federation, National Olympic Committee or from your university.
    • * All documents and forms must be completed in English.
    • * Please note the application will not be acceptable if there are any missing documents as the above request.
    • * All personal information submitted will be treated in a confidential manner by NIFISA and will be used only for the purpose of selecting participants for the program.
    • Start accepting registrations: 12th November 2018

      Registration deadline: 30th November 2018

      Primary selection results: Early December 2018

  • (2)Next Step- Skype interview
    • Selected candidates will participate in a short Skype Interview conducted in
      English with professors from the NIFISA.
    • Skype interview date: mid-December

    • Final selection results:late December (by email and announce on NIFISA website)


  • (1) We will cover expenses for:
    • (a) Your travel from and to a designated airport in your country of origin (We will send an e-ticket for flight).
    • (b) Accommodation and breakfast during the seminar.
  • (2) You will pay for any expenses:
    • (a) Transportation between the airport in your country of origin and your home.
    • (b) Lunch and dinner while the seminar.
    • (c) All other expenses.


  • *If you are selected to participate in the seminar. You are required to attend all sessions.
  • *All participants are supposed to have presentations at the Seminar.
  • *Participants will be required to provide those documents as the following:
    • (1) Photocopy of your current passport.
    • (2) Participation Agreement and Photo Release Form.
    • (3) Statement about any special medical, dietary, and religious requirements or food allergies.
